A quick and easy guide on how to upload and change your Minecraft server icon to stand out in the server list.

Your server's icon is the very first thing players see in their multiplayer server list, keeping the default Minecraft globe icon makes your server look generic, and changing it to something unique ensures you stand out instead of blending in with the crowd.

Requirements

• A Minecraft Java Edition server (running any server software).
• File Manager access to your server files.
• A custom image prepared as either 32x32 or 64x64 pixels in .png format.

Preparing Your Image

Before uploading anything, your image needs to meet Minecraft's strict technical rules so it can be read properly:

• Must be exactly 32x32 or 64x64 pixels (square). Any other size will cause Minecraft to fail to load it.
• Must be saved as a .png file.
• Must be named strictly as server-icon.png (all lowercase, exactly with a hyphen).

Uploading Your Icon

1. Log in to your server panel and open the File Manager.
2. Navigate to your main server root directory (where server.properties files are located).
3. Ensure your image file is named strictly as server-icon.png
4. Upload the file directly into this root folder, making sure it is not placed inside any subfolders.

Restart Your Server

1. Stop your server completely from your control panel.
2. Start your server back up to apply the new server icon.
3. Open your Minecraft multiplayer menu, refresh your server list, and check out your fresh custom icon live!
